Female Project Choir

The 2024 Choir project: GREED IS GOOD, SHARING IS BETTER

GREED IS GOOD, SHARING IS BETTER is written for choir and orchestra. We are looking for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses for the (chamber) choir. It is a 6-minute piece by the Eindhoven composer Mark Hendriks. The whole will be led by conductor Lucas Vis.

There will be three choir rehearsals plus two rehearsals together with the orchestra. All rehearsals are on Saturday mornings: May 11, 18, 25 and June 15 and 22, 2024. The location of the rehearsals will be announced later.

CoMa Eindhoven

CoMA stands for: Contemporary Music for All. The orchestra from Eindhoven consists of advanced amateurs who study a concert program with complex pieces with a limited number of rehearsals. Many of our musicians have extensive experience in the classical repertoire. The nice thing about CoMA is the challenge of playing compositions by contemporary composers, something that most amateur orchestras do not get around to.

Choir

For the (chamber) choir we are looking for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses who are able to prepare their parts at home. You may be invited for an audition.

Sheet music and study materials are provided.

In addition to the 6-minute piece with choir and orchestra, we also sing a short modern piece for choir a-capella.

Registration, contact and information only via the CoMa orchestra website. You will be redirected to CoMa Eindhoven.

The CoMa concept

Contemporary music played by amateurs is quite unique! The concept of CoMA comes from England and the name is an abbreviation of Contemporary Music for All. CoMA was founded in 1993 to enable musicians of all abilities to participate actively in contemporary music. It has a national network of instrumental and vocal ensembles and an expanding international programme. Our unique music collection of  hundreds of works contains some of the most exciting and rewarding new music being created today and is an invaluable resource for  professional, amateur and youth based ensembles. See www.coma.org

Twenty ensembles are affiliated with CoMA: sixteen in Great Britain, one in Ireland, one in Berlin and since 2013 CoMA Maastricht (www.comamaastricht.nl). CoMA ensembles often work with ‘open scores’: compositions for orchestras with varying line-up and size. In addition to pieces from the CoMA library, we often play new work by Dutch composers.

You can no longer register for the 2023 project below

The female project choir is an ideal way to sing beautiful polyphonic pieces and to improve your vocal and musical skills in a small ensemble!

Do you have (had) choir experience and maybe singing lessons? We would like to expand to 19 women. Admission to the ensemble consists of an audition, in which practical musical skills and voice quality are tested. To participate you must be able to prepare the music independently.

The Female Project Choir is a small group of enthusiastic women of all ages who all enjoy singing polyphonic pieces and work on their voice and skills in this way. In the Vocal Ensemble we integrate ensemble singing, vocal training and conclude with a concert.
The choir is split in: high sopranos, sopranos, mezzo-soprano, high alto and alto. And in every part we have auditions.

We work on almost everything related to singing and ensemble singing, such as:
Rehearsing pieces in polyphony
Ensemble techniques
Vocal and musical skills
Lots of singing in a good atmosphere
Working on varied polyphonic music for women’s choir
Fine-tune pieces for presentation and concert
